How it all began…..
Julie’s family have been in the property industry since 1970, when her father bought a large Victorian house when she was 5, with the intention of splitting up the house and renting individual rooms out.
Julie’s family lived in the house initially whilst the transformation took place, until her mother insisted a building site was no place for a 5 year old to be living in. (Julie actually loved watching how the rooms were transformed, even at a young age!)
The transformation took a few months to complete, and their HMO was born, though in 1970, the term HMO was not yet a property strategy. The large house was converted into 7 flats, which included bedsits, studio flats, and a one bedroom flat.
Over the years, Julie experienced and learned from her father’s entrepreneurial skills, watching him buy a number of family lets to add to the portfolio, as well as 2 newsagent shops and a gnome factory (yes, you read that right).
Fast forward to today, and with Julie’s parents passing, she was well-equipped to take over the family business, and it has continued to go from strength to strength.
The original HMO is now a 9 bedroom fully compliant HMO, with the basement being converted in 2010 to 2 studio flats.
A number of tenants have lived in the flats for over 10 years, which is testament of Julie’s work ethos and attention to her tenants needs, making for a harmonious house that tenants are happy to live in for a long time.
More recently, Julie has expanded into Holiday Lets and Service Accommodation and manages a number of them around the UK, thus expanding her skills and knowledge further.
Julie’s hands-on approach ensures she has an exceptional relationship with all her tenants and guests, enjoying long-term tenants and returning guests. No doubt her parents would be very proud of her for keeping the family legacy alive and striving to do the best for her tenants and guests.
